Early Life and Education
Rakul Preet Singh was born on October 10, 1990, in New Delhi, India. Her father, Rajender Singh, is a retired Indian Army officer, and her mother, Kulwinder Singh, is a homemaker. She has a younger brother named Aman Preet Singh.
Singh completed her schooling at Army Public School in Dhaula Kuan, New Delhi. She was an active participant in sports, particularly golf, and even played at the national level. After completing her schooling, she pursued a degree in Mathematics from Jesus and Mary College, University of Delhi.
While pursuing her degree, Rakul Preet Singh began modeling on the side. She participated in various beauty pageants and eventually won the title of Miss India People’s Choice at the Pantaloons Femina Miss India 2011. This opened the door for her to venture into the film industry.
In 2011, Singh made her acting debut in the Kannada film “Gilli” by opposite actor Gururaj Jaggesh. Despite being a commercial success, the film did not receive critical acclaim. However, Singh’s performance was noted and she received several offers from the Telugu and Tamil film industries.

Rakul Preet Singh’s breakthrough role came in the 2014 Telugu film “Venkatadri Express.” Her performance as Prarthana received widespread critical acclaim, and she won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress – Telugu for her role in the film.
