Early Life and Education

Rashmika Mandanna was born on 5th April 1996 in Virajpet, a town in the Kodagu district of Karnataka. Her father, Madan Mandanna, is a businessman, and her mother, Suman Mandanna, is a homemaker. She has a younger sister named Shiman Mandanna. Rashmika did her schooling at Coorg Public School in Karnataka and completed her pre-university course at Mysore Institute of Commerce and Arts.

After completing her pre-university course, Rashmika moved to Bengaluru to pursue a degree in Psychology, Journalism, and English Literature at MS Ramaiah College of Arts, Science, and Commerce. During her college days, she participated in various modeling contests and also worked as a part-time model to support her studies.

Career in Acting

Rashmika’s entry into the film industry happened by chance when she was offered a role in the Kannada film The “Kirik Party” in 2016. She auditioned for the role of female lead and got selected among 200 other candidates. The film was a huge success at the box office and received critical acclaim for its fresh and youthful content. Rashmika’s performance as the female lead, Saanvi Joseph, was highly appreciated, and she won the Best Debut Actress award at the South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) in 2017.

After the success of The “Kirik Party,” Rashmika was flooded with offers from various filmmakers. She went on to act in several Kannada films like “Anjani Putra,” “Chamak,” and “Yajamana,” among others. Her charming screen presence and natural acting skills made her a household name in Karnataka.

In 2018, Rashmika made her Telugu debut with the film “Chalo,” opposite Naga Shourya. The film was a commercial success and received positive reviews from the audience and critics. She then went on to act in several Telugu films like “Geetha Govindam,” “Dear Comrade,” “Sarileru Neekevvaru,” and “Pushpa.” Her performance in “Geetha Govindam” opposite Vijay Deverakonda was highly praised, and the film went on to become a blockbuster hit at the box office. Her portrayal of Lilly in “Dear Comrade” was also appreciated, and she won the Best Actress award at Zee Cine Awards Telugu in 2020.

Rashmika Mandanna is currently single and is not dating anyone. However, she was previously engaged to Rakshit Shetty, her co-star from “Kirik Party.” They got engaged in 2017, but the couple parted ways in 2018, citing personal differences.

Apart from acting, Rashmika is also involved in various philanthropic activities. She has actively supported campaigns for women’s empowerment, child rights, and education. In 2020, she donated Rs. 10 lakhs to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in Karnataka to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
